Rental Policy & Agreement
The purpose of this policy is to define the rules and outline what the customer’s responsibility is when renting gear and outdoor equipment from Wooded Nomad. We are committed to providing high quality, clean gear to our customers so that we may all enjoy the outdoors. It’s important to understand and acknowledge that there are inherent risks associated with camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities in which Wooded Nomad’s gear may be used. Wooded Nomad cannot be held responsible for any injuries, damages, or losses to the customer while using equipment rented from Wooded Nomad.

Rental Start Date
The latest day equipment needs to be delivered to the address provided to Wooded Nomad, or the day the customer is picking up items in store. For shipped items, you will not be charged extra if your gear arrives early. Note, we do not have control over the time of day that equipment is delivered to you, so it is recommended that you select a start date that is the day before you leave.
Rental End Date
The day that the used equipment will be dropped off at the shipping carrier for return to Wooded Nomad, or when gear will be dropped off in store. Note, if gear is not returned to the shipping carrier or dropped off in store by the rental end date it will be considered late and you will be a charged a late fee. If your gear is returned earlier than the end date you will not be credited for the extra days.
By renting equipment from Wooded Nomad LLC, you agree to our terms and conditions in this Rental Policy & Agreement.
The minimum rental period is 2 nights/3 days for items that are shipped and 1 night/2days for items that are rented in store. Extended camping discounts are available on all items. The average daily rental price decreases as additional days are selected. A customer who rents gear or equipment for 6 nights/7 days will have a lower daily rental price than a customer who rents the same equipment for 3 nights/4 days. Average daily rental rates decrease at 6 nights/7 days, 13 nights/14 days, 20 nights/21 days, and with monthly rentals. The maximum rental period is 29 nights/30 days.
Please make your reservation in advance. During high peak seasons gear rents out quickly and your first choice items may not be available. It’s important to note that for shipped items, it will take a minimum of 3 days for orders to be processed, packaged, and ready for use at your delivery address, so please place your order early. Items that are reserved in store are available immediately.
The customer’s credit card will be charged the full rental cost at the time the order is placed for orders that are shipped. For items picked up in store, the customer has the option to make a reservation and pay in store when they pick up their rental gear. Credit card information will be kept on file until all items have been returned in case additional charges are required for cleaning/late/damaged/missing items. The customer will receive an email confirmation once their rented items have been returned and inspected. If additional charges are required, a breakdown of fees and cost will be included in the email confirmation.
Customers will be charged a late fee for items that are not returned on time, this includes gear returned with missing parts. The customer is only responsible for delivering the rental gear to the shipping carrier by the rental end date, and will not be charged a late fee due to delays associated with the shipping carrier.
The late fee is equal to the daily rental fee (one third of the 3-day minimum rental charge) for every item that is not returned on time. If you are unable to return your items on time due to extenuating circumstances, please contact us. For items that are more than 7 days late, and you have not contacted Wooded Nomad, we will assume that the items will not be returned and the customer will be charged for the gear and equipment as a non-return. Wooded Nomad will not charge the customer more than the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for an item.
We understand that wear and tear is normal for gear and equipment that is used in the outdoors. Wooded Nomad rents out high quality gear that is meant to last for years with proper care. The customer will not be charged for items that are returned with normal wear and tear. Items that are returned excessively damaged or show evidence of abuse will result in damage fees. Damages include, but are not limited to, tears, rips, stains, burn holes, missing pieces, along with evidence of mold and mildew. The customer will be charged the price to fix the gear or equipment due to customer damages. If the damages are beyond repair the customer will be charged the price to replace the item. If the customer would like to keep the damaged beyond repair item, then Wooded Nomad will send the item back to the customer. The shipping costs will be at the customer’s expense. Wooded Nomad will not charge the customer more than the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for an item.
The customer is responsible for all gear and equipment rented during the rental start date and the rental end date. If the items rented to you become lost or stolen while in your possession, you will be charged to replace those items. Wooded Nomad will not charge the customer more than the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for an item.
Gear and Equipment must be returned clean and dry to Wooded Nomad. Mold and mildew can occur quickly if gear is not completely dry, so please ensure that equipment is entirely dry before packaging for return. It is your responsibility to return the items brush-cleaned, debris free and thoroughly dry. Where necessary, returned gear may result in a cleaning fee charge to the customer. Cleaning fees are billed at $40 per hour.
All gear and equipment will be cleaned between uses by Wooded Nomad to ensure that the next customer receives clean and fresh gear. Sleeping bags are machine washed by Wooded Nomad between rental periods.
f your plans change and you no longer need the rental gear from Wooded Nomad, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. We have reserved the equipment for you and may have had to turn away other customers who were interested in the same equipment. If a cancelation is received 10 or more days before your rental start date, then a full refund will be applied. Reservations cancelled within 4-9 days of a rental start date will be charged for shipping, if gear is being shipped, and will receive store credit towards a future rental from Wooded Nomad. Reservations cancelled within 3 days of the rental start date will not receive a refund or store credit. Items shipped before a cancellation request is received will not be eligible for a refund. Late cancellation fees do not apply for items that are reserved ahead of time for store pickup when the customer selects to pay in store.
Giving back to the community is an important part of Wooded Nomad’s values and beliefs. A portion of money received from a customer order will be donated to a Non-Profit organization. Wooded Nomad will provide a list of Non-Profits for the customer to select from at the time their order is placed. The customer will have the option to select an organization to donate a portion of the money received from their order to. If a customer does not select an organization than Wooded Nomad will evenly distribute the customer’s portion to all organizations listed.
Orders are only available for shipment in the continental US (Hawaii and Alaska are not included). There will be a flat rate of $15.00 for shipping for orders that are $149.99 or less. Orders that are $150.00 or more are eligible for free shipping. A pre-paid return shipping label will be included with the rental gear order that arrives for the customer. The customer will package the gear for return in the same box that it arrived in and attach the return shipping label to that box. The package must be dropped off at the shipping carrier on the Rental End Date, or the customer will be charged a late fee.
Wooded Nomad may choose to require a security deposit for large orders. The security deposit amount is entirely at the discretion of Wooded Nomad. The customer will be notified ahead of time if a security deposit is needed.
You, the customer, hereby rent from us, Wooded Nomad LLC, the equipment for the rental period, and agree to pay Wooded Nomad LLC for the amount of time our gear is in your possession. Wooded Nomad LLC will charge the customer for the length of time the gear is rented, excluding shipping times when applicable. If you fail to return any or all equipment when it is due you will be charged a fee by Wooded Nomad LLC as defined in the Rental Policy. Any equipment that is not returned within 7 days of the Rental End Date will be deemed lost and the customer will be charged the full MSRP for the unreturned items. You agree that Wooded Nomad LLC may deduct any amount owed for the rental period, along with additional late, damaged, or non-return fees from the credit card information that you have provided to us. If a security deposit is needed, you will not be entitled to interest on the security deposit. You irrevocably and unconditionally authorize Wooded Nomad LLC to immediately submit for payment on the credit card that you have supplied to us. . You agree to the cancellation policy as outlined in our Rental Policy. The equipment that we have provided to you is “as is” and “without faults.” We make no warranty, expressed or implied, nor do we make and warranty against interference, infringement, that the equipment is fit for your intended use, or that it is free from defects. No warranties will exist with respect to the equipment. Your sole remedy for any failure or defect of our equipment is termination of the rental charges at the time of failure. You acknowledge that the possession, use, transportation, and/or storage of the equipment may give rise to the risk of personal injury and/or property damage and assume all risks. You voluntarily assume all risk and release Wooded Nomad LLC and the equipment from all liens, liabilities, and all claims connected to our equipment. You hereby waive any and all liens and claims arising from or associated with, and agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Wooded Nomad LLC from and against all liabilities, claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including without limitation, attorney’s fees, claims for bodily injuries, deaths, property damage, loss of time, and/or inconvenience) resulting from or arising in connection with possession and/or use of our equipment. Upon receipt of our equipment you acknowledge that you have inspected and examined our equipment that is delivered to you, and it is in good operating condition and in all ways acceptable to you. While the equipment is in your possession, you bear all risk of loss, theft, damage, or destruction to the equipment, regardless of cause (normal wear and tear excluded). You agree to the terms outlined in our Rental Policy for all items that are lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed during your rental term. You agree to pay Wooded Nomad LLC the retail value of the parts and/or labor needed to repair the equipment if it is damaged, or its replacement cost if lost, stolen, destroyed, or damaged beyond our reasonable ability to repair it. While the equipment is in your possession you must protect it from misuse, exposure to adverse conditions, and any other abuse or neglect. You must ensure that equipment remains in good operating condition as is returned to us in accordance with the terms and conditions of use. You agree that the equipment will be returned to us clean and free of all regulated or hazardous substances and is in the same condition and repair as it was when it arrived, excluding normal wear and tear. “Normal wear and tear” means normal deterioration resulting from the proper and intended use of the equipment in accordance of the terms of our Rental Policy & Agreement. Items returned with normal wear and tear will not be considered damaged. Damage beyond “normal wear and tear” includes, but is not limited to theft, disappearance, damage due to overloading or exceeding rated capacities, non-standard use, operating without proper support and/or safety equipment, improper use, misuse, abuse, neglect, accidents, and intentional damage. You agree to pay a reasonable charge, as outlined in the Rental Policy for equipment that is returned in any other condition. This agreement represents the complete and final agreement between you, the customer, and Wooded Nomad LLC, and cannot be modified by oral agreement. The agreement and any disputes hereunder shall be governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, and any disputes hereto shall be adjusted in Hennepin County, Minnesota, where the State District Court shall have sole jurisdiction. Each party waives its right to a jury trial of any claim or cause of action based on or arising out of this Rental Policy & Agreement or the subject matter hereof. Each party knowingly, voluntarily, irrevocably, and unconditionally waives its jury trial rights. The use of false or fictitious identification to obtain rental equipment, the failure to return rental property, or the failure to pay for its use, is a crime and may result in criminal prosecution. You agree to pay Wooded Nomad LLC all attorney’s fees and other costs we may incur in enforcing or exercising our rights under this Rental Policy & Agreement.

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order.
We request information from you on our order form. To rent from us, you must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we’ll use this information to contact you.
